John D. Steinline, Jr. Memorial Award
John Dell Steinline, Jr., son of Jean Cooper Steilnine and the late John Dell Steinline, Sr. , was born October 2, 1964 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. John received his early childhood education at Rutgers Preparatory School. Brother Steinline was an active member of the Ski Club, Junior Varsity Soccer, Model United Nations and the Drama Club.
In 1988, John Steinline received his bachelor's of arts degree in history from the University of Connecticut, where he was also initiated into the Nu Psi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, in 1986. During his years at the University of Connecticut, John was a member of the Rugby Club and the Black Student Association where he chaired the scholarship committee. He also held the offices of Keeper of Exchequer (treasurer) and Vice Polemarch( Vice President) of his chapter. Brother Steinline became an active and financial member of the New Brunswick Alumni Chapter in 1988.
Brother Steinline entered the Chapter Invisible, on April 17, 1990, after a tragic car accident. His future plans were to attend law school at Hofstra University, Western New England or St. John's University. He is greatly missed by his family, his church, his fraternity brothers and his friends. Although he lived a short life, his spirit lives on! A scholarship was named in his memory in 1986 and has been awarded annually to a graduating senior from New Brunswick High School or New Brunswick Health Sciences High School.
Michael G. Greene Memorial Award
Michael "Juicy" Greene, son and stepson of Mary Lee and Fred Tyson, was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1947. Brother Greene received his bachelor's of science degree in 1970 from Houston-Tillison University in Austin, Texas. In 1967, he was initiated into the Gamma Lambda Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. Mike acquired the nickname of "Juicy" because of his athletic prowess in track.
Brother Greene graduated cum laude and continued his quest for excellence while working for the Xerox Corporation in Chicago, Illinois. During his tenure there, he receive several acknowledgements including the Xerox General Manager's 100% Club for outstanding performance in the Midwest, the Xerox Par Club Award and the Xerox Touchdown Club Award. Brother Greene became an active and financial member of the New Brunswick Alumni Chapter in 1989.
On February 28, 1996, Michael Greene entered the Chapter Invisible. He is greatly missed by his mother, stepfather, fraternity brothers, and friends. Brother Greene touched everyone he met with his compassion, his spirit of giving and his never ending bright smile. Although he is physically no longer with us, his warmth lives on within all of us. A scholarship award was named in his memory in 1996 and has been given annually to a local area graduating high school senior .
Marshall B. Simmons ScholarshipAward
Marshall B. Simmons was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on March 11, 1949 to Symon and Margaret Simmons. He is the eldest of two children. He received is primary education in the Jersey City public education system until ninth grade. He subsequently moved to Annapolis, Maryland and received his high school diploma in 1967. He attended Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland where he majored in business administration, received his bachelor of science degree in 1971. While at Morgan State, he was a member of the ROTC. After graduation he was stationed in Augusta, Georgia as a member of the United States Army Signal Corp with the rank of second lieutenant. He was honorably discharge from the United States Army in 1972.
Brother Simmons worked for the Xerox Corporation and 3M Corporation as a salesman. He worked with Dean Witter as a stock broker as well as a financial planning representative for the Madison Financial Group. Brother Simmons' many professional experiences allowed him to become an entrepreneur and open his own business as an independent financial consultant with the Financial Network Investment Corporation in 1998 in Somerset, NJ.
Brother Simmons married the former Mary Cox on August 17, 1974 in Baltimore, MD. They reside in Somerset, NJ and have three children. He joined Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. on April 22, 1971 as a member of the Alpha Iota Chapter at Morgan State University. He has been a member of the Dayton and Augusta Alumni Chapters. He joined the New Brunswick Alumni Chapter in 1987. He has served the chapter as the Polemarch (President), Vice Polemarch (Vice President) and Keeper of Exchequer (Treasurer). He has served the fraternity diligently on the local and provincial level. For his hard work and commitment, he was recognized with the Northeastern Province's highest fraternal award, the James M. Kidd Award in 2003. He received a Kappa Man's greatest personal reward when his son, Marques, was initiated into the fraternity in 2003. The DIAMOND Foundation, Inc recognizes Brother Simmons for his exemplary service and commitment to achievement.
The Marshall B. Simmons Scholarship Award will be presented annually to a member of the graduating class of the Kappa Leadership League.
Diamond & Pearls Scholarship Award
The DIAMOND and PEARLS Scholarship was established in 2007. This award is sponsored by The DIAMOND Foundation, Inc. in partnership with P.E.A.R.L.S., Inc. of the Nu Xi Omega Alumnae chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. The New Brunswick Alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc has as its mission - Saving Young Black Men. The Foundation suppports this initiative through this award by asking that P.E.A.R.L.S. make this a priority of their organizationas well. P.E.A.R.L.S., Inc. selects a young man annually to receive this award. The award is presented annually at the Maurice B. Williams Scholarship Luncheon sponsored by P.E.A.R.L.S., Inc in the spring each year.

Scholarship Criteria
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS AND GENERAL INFORMATION
•These scholarships are intended for graduating high school students who plan to attend a four-year institution of higher learning. Students must either have selected a college or completed the application process.
•All applicants must submit a current high school transcript. The minimum GPA necessary for scholarship consideration is 2.50.
•If you have received your SAT or ACT scores please submit a copy with your application.
•To be considered for a scholarship, all materials must be RECEIVED by SATURDAY, MARCH 6, 2010
•Scholarship awards will be presented in the form of a certificate and check which will be made payable to the awardee in a manner that will not affect any college or university financial aid package. The check will be dispersed upon receipt of proof of registration at a college or university.
•Recognition of our scholarship winners will occur at the Dr. George A. Patterson Scholarship Luncheon and Fashion Show on May 1, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Brunswick, NJ. The winner will receive two complimentary tickets to the event and will be notified at least three weeks in advance.

Donnell Smiley
New Brunswick Health Science Technology High School
Rutgers University
Donnell Emilio Smiley is the son of Ronald and Bernadina Smiley. He is a senior at the New Brunswick Health Sciences and Technology High School. An outstanding student, posting a 3.37 GPA, he is a member of his school's student council, an active member of the Civic League of Greater New Brunswick and the Rutgers Upward Bound programs. Donnell has volunteered for well over 160 hours of community service. He has raised over $2,000 for various organizations through charity walks and runs which serve to help different diseases including lupus, breast cancer and heart disease. With his academic success, he is listed in Who's Who Amongst American High School Students. He has received numerous awards including the CJA Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.'s Legacy of Excellence Recognition Scholarship. This aspiring physician hopes to work either as a pediatrician or an emergency medicine physician.
James Thaxton
James Thaxton is the son of Patricia Reece and James Thaxton. He is a member of the National Honor Society and 2007 recipient of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Legacy of Excellence Scholarship. He is a member of the varsity soccer team and as well as a 1st degree black belt. He is an active member of the community volunteering at the Elijah's Promise Soup Kitchen. He has a 3.97 cumulative grade point average with aspirations of becoming an engineer.

Alyssa Blake is the daughter of Marjorie Blake. She is a senior at Piscataway High School with the goal of becoming the founder and CEO of a public relations firm. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the North Stelton AME Church junior usher board, as well as a student ambassador for her high school.
